mostly my knitting stuff ( ravelry | knitting tag ) and
me bitching about sucking at climbing.
with some other things thrown in here and there.
and cats cats cats cats.
whoops i still haven’t taken a picture of the honeycomb (apis dorsata) shawl i made for my mom all finished and blocked and everything.
so have a picture of the latest shawl i finished today, which is blocking right now. the pattern is called round dance. i did the medium sized shawl (19 repeats) and used the chart with less bobbles. also, didn’t do the crocheted bind off. instead i did the one from indian feathers, which is a row of k1, (yo, k2tog) to end, a row of purls, then an attached three stitched icord bind off. it used one skein of cascade heritage paints (in the 9979 fruit salad colorway) with a whole 8 yards left over at the end.
whee, picture of my finished and blocked demalangeni shawl! i blocked it at the end of february and kind of did a shitty job and need to reblock it WHOOPS, but just have been lazy about taking pictures of it.
on another note, i finished the apis dorsata shawl last night !! it’s blocking right now, and maybe i won’t be so lazy about taking a picture of it soon. maybe.
the apis dorsata shawl i’m knitting is coming along fucking beautifully. now done with chart B! just chart C and then the last corner to go. i am so good at knitting, oh my god. am i the only one who feels like that about really awesome projects?
also, an up close of my favorite part. i love how there are some textured cells scattered throughout.
so i found this apis dorsata pattern, which was inspired by himalayan honeybee. my mom loves honey, so immediately upon finding the pattern, i told her she needed to take me to the yarn store the next day and buy me yarn so i could make this for her. and she did! of course she picked out yarn in teal, her favorite color. even though she’s been saying that she’s going to stop getting stuff in that color. but i knew she was lying about that. that was about two weeks ago, but last week i was super busy and didn’t get to knit on it hardly at all. but, yeah! it’s coming out so pretty. i’m almost done with chart A.
i finished my demalangeni shawl finally! put it down for a few weeks because i was just busy with stuff/bored of the short rows. shitty webcam picture, and it’s unblocked. there will be prettier pictures later, probably from when it’s blocking and probably when it’s dry, too!
IT’S SO PRETTY.
and now to cast on for another shawl! this time for my mom. in the apis dorsata pattern. doing the shawl, not the scarf.
so no one answered my question last night, but i’ve decided on KNIT ONE PURL ONE FOREVER.
i have a while to go.
so i’ve wanted one of those obnoxiously orange watch caps for a while. i have the yarn now, leftover since i was making baby hats for my mom’s coworker, who is a gators fan so i made them orange and royal blue striped. i’m more or less out of the blue, not really enough to do much with, so now i have the orange to do WHATEVER I WANT WITH IT’S ALL MINE.
but now the question is, do i do a 1x1 or 3x3 ribbed beanie? or something simple? or something at an odd juxtaposition with the color, like something lacy or something cable-y?
made a gripping with the leftover yarn from the scarf i made my brother! it’s smaller than the original pattern (there are notes in the pdf if you want it a different shape/larger/whatever) because i didn’t have enough yarn! but i love it and i think i need a whole army of them in all different sizes and shapes and colors.
